Leatherman Squirt bit and microbit adapters
Any multitool should be able to use bits, so of course I had to find a way for my new Squirt PS4 to use them as well.
The video will do most of the explaining on this one but bottom line this is a way of adding both a bit driver and a microbit driver to any of the Squirt models from Leatherman. You just need to round off the flathead and Phillips head screwdrivers a bit and they will fit.
The size of the Squirts mean they won’t survive too much torque on the tools, but for smaller screws and especially very small screws (like those the microbits fit) it’s perfect. Considering there are Squirts that is specifically made for electronics use and the microbit kit is an electronics bit set the two are made for one another.
I also had an idea for what Leatherman could do to add microbit capabilities to most their tools (those that can use bits via some sort of adapter). It involves a hexagonal convertor tube that turns a bit driver into a microbit driver. I learned how to use Google Sketchup this weekend so you can see my sketches for that system in the pictures – pretty self explanatory.
