A few weeks ago I saw something in some caches that I thought was a good idea- business cards for geocaching! I’ve ordered business cards before so I went back to that site and got some specifically for caching, and they arrived today.

I really liked this idea because it’s a bit more personal than just leaving a log and a “TFTC”, after all most caches I’ve seen don’t have that much in them. I ordered the cards from Vistaprint, a site I’ve used before that basically runs on a “give something free, then spam other offers” policy. They offer some free products, and charge for more advanced editing etc. It’s a concept that works although it’s a bit cheap, but it does make it possible to get good prices.

One of the offers was for a free stamp and I jumped on that as well, though it would be yet anothe rnice thing for geocaching. Unfortunately when the products arrived today, they had forgotten to actually include the rubber part of the stamp with my customized message on it and had just shipped the stock stamp with nothing on it. The missing piece is a small rubber pad you’re supposed to put on yourself, so it’s probably human error during packaging. The worse part though was that their invoice system is apparently fucked up- my order totaled 210 NOK, where 125 was the order and the rest was shipping. That means it was below the 200 NOK customs limit and I shouldn’t have to pay VAT. Unfortunately, the invoice printed the actual value of the products and not the price I paid, so it said that the products cost 204 NOK on the invoice. Boom, 159 NOK VAT + handling charges. Obviously I’ve contacted Vistaprint about both these issues as both are their fault, so we’ll see what they say.

The good thing though is that I now have my cards. They turned out great (at least they have the quality right over there) and I can’t wait to start placing them in caches. My new Canon EOS 1000D DSLR also arrived today and will be accompanying me on caching trips, so this was a great day for my caching bag.
