iPhone 3GS voice control needs to tell time
The iPhone 3GS voice control is impressive and accurate though not perfect. The one thing I really miss however is the ability to make it read the time aloud.
The iPhone 3GS voice control is very nice with my moded remote control headphones, especially at work where the iPhone is protected in my pocket while working out in the forest/bushes. Days like today with heavy rain makes this even nicer since I don’t have to fiddle with the phone itself at all – I can do everything from choosing music to calling people with the voice control.
However, the iPhone is also the only clock I have with me, and fishing it up from my pocket to look at the time is very annoying. I had hoped the iPhone had a command to read the time aloud, but after studying the voice control user manual it turned out there is no such thing. This is really disappointing and a feature I really hope they will add – it shouldn’t pose any technical difficulty at all and I don’t think I’m the only one who would welcome such a feature. It would be awesome to be able to just hold the middle button on the wired remote, ask the time and have it read aloud. Might get some looks if there are people nearby, but then again I talk to myself anyways so I might as well talk to my phone.
