The cable that comes with iPods and iPhones is usable enough, but it’s a tad long- especially if you’re going to carry it with you on trips or use it with chargers etc. Luckily there’s a smaller alternative.

I’ve made short iPod cables before, but it’s always nice to have non-DIY’ed versions both for look and stability. There is a brand-name version of this cable, but the price is so much higher I don’t even want to link to it. Dealextreme’s version is a much better choice at $1.64 shipped wordwide for a 8.5cm cable. The cable is the perfect size for carrying around and using on the go. I’m going to be using it with my Aspire One netbook, and this cable can fit in the bag I have for it without taking up much space.
