Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000
I’ve been using Logitech VX Nano computer mice for a while now, but one of my two VX Nano’s got a hardware bug where it double click everything. Today the replacement arrived.
I didn’t want to shell out the $80 a new VX Nano costs in Norway to get a mouse for my Aspire One netbook, but at the same time the most important feature of the VX Nano – the ultra small receiver – is something I can’t live without. This was just before I realized Logitech had come out with a cheaper nano receiver mouse, so I thought there were few alternatives. I remembered Jenn had mentioned the Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 to me before when I got the first VX Nano, and since I had a small Bluetooth receiver already I went to see prices for that mouse.
I found an eBay auction for a white refurbished one and put up a bid for it. After outbidding some other people I got it for £17 shipped, about $25. It arrived today, and is working perfectly. It’s about the same size as the VX Nano and while it’s not as good it’s more than good enough for netbook use. Definitely recommended if you can get one cheap, even if the M305 is out there now (though the M305 is optical, not laser, and I don’t really like optical mice).

Hmm, I thought of getting this one after I bought my laptop, but I ended up just going with ThinkPad’s bluetooth mouse, which is functional, though definitely not as cute. I usually buy a big mouse because small ones stress out my hands (I have man hands…) My only complaint about Lenovo’s is that the scroller is too loud. I’m not a big fan of the clicky noise.
